July was truly an eventful month; every week / day seemed to compound more good and bad events. In the beginning the month, I caught Dengue at the Big Wave Event in Playa Zicatela, followed by both of us getting Zika during 4th of July. In the middle of this, the wife was getting her largest tattoo on her back and I was a bit nervous; not only because of the artist, but because of the pain she went through for 5 hours (even though she handled it like a champ).

After the beginning of this wild month and having to cancel my first meeting with the tattoo artist, I gave myself a thumbs up on health and decided to go for it. My top choice was to get my favorite iconic band tattooed on my upper back; Led Zeppelin - Swan Song Records logo "Icarus". Knowing the wife handled herself so well during her tattoo, I was a little nervous. I went to my favorite restaurant before-hand and slammed two or three tequila shots, which weren't recommended but I did it anyways. After entering the tattoo parlor, I instantly sat down in the massage table and had two guys prep the equipment with cleanliness while I was getting rubbed down on my back with alcohol. The tattoo artist's name was "Lobo", which meant wolf. He confidently switched his machine on and started to grind down inside my skin with ink. I instantly had an exorbitant amount of pain going through my body, but I knew there was no going back. After about 5 minutes, I was able to handle the pain much better, most likely because my skin was going numb from the scraping perhaps.

After an hour of holding the bench tightly, pointing my toes outward, and the wife snapping photos, Lobo told me to stand up and give it a look. I thought it was finally over and was so happy to see it. I then looked in the mirror and found out it was only the outline. He said "now is time for the shading, are you ready?" It looked good already and I wanted it to be done, but I didn't seem to have a choice.

After a total of 4 hours, I happily stood up and was relieved of little less pain. I checked out my back in the mirror again, and was stoked to have my lifelong loved band being honored on my back; especially for all of the smiles they gave me throughout the years. This was my first tattoo that I ever had! I was absolutely stoked, not only to show my oblivious mother my tattoo, but to have this beautiful art-piece on my back as it represents the greatest rock band of all time...You could say that I literally "Got the led out".

Thank you to Lobo for being a good sport and a good artist down there in Puerto, thanks to the wife who put up with my whiny ass for 5 hours in the chair, and thanks to "you" the reader, and of course to Led for all you do every time I push the play button.
